Hi,
I found about the Deathgate books when I was starting to read fantasy, shortly after reading for the first time The Lord of the Rings. I had almost no prior knowledge of the genre (excluding a couple of the Dragonlance prequel novels), but I liked Deathgate a lot. I have read much in the last years, other series, other genres, other authors, yet the Deathgate novels are still in my Top Five list of favourites. The stunning complexity of this universe is something I am unlikely to forget in the years to come...
I have, however, a few doubts that I have never been able to answer on my own. One of them is the apparent contradiction between the mention of a One God (Elihm, IIRC) by the Sartan in Arianus (Dragon Wing appendix) and Abarrach, and Samah's rejection of such a notion. Was this a clue about a schism in the Sartan after the Sundering? Samah took all the orthodox followers with him to Chelestra, then?
A second question is whether a RPG system for the Death Gate universe exists or has been planned. Some friends of mine attempted some time ago to make a few patryn characters using D&D a few years ago, but didn't quite manage to reflect the complex system of rune magic depicted in the novels.
That's all for the moment.
Greetings from Spain.
