Mr. Hickman,
I have a question and you seem to be uniquely qualified to answer it. A couple of my friends and I are interested in both writing and game design, and also in the relationship between the two. At least two of us plan to pursue careers in both game design and writing, but we are a bit perplexed as to how to get started. The meat of my question is this: is it better to focus on one area or the other, or to pursue the two at the same time? And, if it is better to specialize early in the game, which area would you suggest? Thanks a lot in advance for your feedback.
On a less formal note, I have to compliment you on your excellent work. The Dragonlance universe remains to this day to be my favorite in pretty much all of literature, and the few modules that i have played are loads of fun. Also, I had the privilege of seeing -- and briefly meeting -- you a few years back at GenCon '05, where you presented a workshop on how to more fully immerse one's self into a game, and how to play better characters. It was wonderful. Thanks for all the work you do!
