I've been a fan of the Dragonlance universe since I was eight, when I first got my grubby little hands on the original trilogy. Over a decade later, and I'm now the proud owner of all of the Weis / Hickman trilogies, the inbetween books, and even the (what I like to call) 'after thought' books. I also love reading my annotated copy of the original series. Needless to say, I'm a fan. As a fan, I recently came to the decision after much research and thought that I want to get the "Est Sularus" song that Tracy Hickman wrote tattooed on my back left shoulder blade. I already have the design in mind and know how I want it to be angled, but as I'm getting it tattooed in the original Solamnic language and NOT the English translation, I've been scouring the interwebs for a pronunciation key. I know I'm going to be asked what my tattoo says and I'd like to be accurate so that when I'm shunned for being a geek with a Dragonlance tattoo, at least I'll be shunned as a phonetically accurate geek.
The lyrics are as follows:
Est sularus oth mithas tarus un karam degh Draco Paladine.
Est sularus voloni mas ai est thorom nafai aran palani pax ai vor.
Barus oth arath, paxum oth kannai, oparusar dusuni ras oc par ai fam.
Coni es est sularus oth mithas, hanur est mas Lor Alan Paladine.
If I could get a pronunciation key or an idea of what the language is like (ie is it strict phonetics, like Japanese? or is it a little more flexible with variations like German? or is it a total free for all and you just have to know the word like English?) I'd be more than appreciative.
Thank you for your time!
~Alisa
